Explore Our 2025 Migrant/EL Summer Program!

This summer, we welcomed students entering grades 1 through 8 to a four-week learning experience at East Elementary. Our program focused on STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math, offering students a wide range of fun, engaging, and meaningful activities.
Students participated in hands-on projects that deepened their understanding of STEAM concepts while continuing to strengthen their language skills in both Spanish and English. Each day, students also worked with a binational teacher from México who led cultural art activities, helping students connect with their heritage through creativity.
A highlight of the program was a field trip to the Tillamook Air Museum, where students engaged with history, science, and aviation in an interactive setting.
Thank you to our staff, families, and community partners for making this summer such a success. Together, we’re empowering students and building brighter futures!

Parent Groups
PADRES UNIDOS
This parent group was established to support parents in navigating the school system and provide information and resources to support children’s education at home. Although this group is facilitated by a bilingual, bicultural teacher in the district, it is really led by the parents themselves.
The parents of Padres Unidos have established several annual celebrations to introduce aspects of Latino culture in both the schools and community. Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and Día del Niño (Children’s Day) activities take place at Liberty Elementary each year. The largest project has been the annual Kermés, a Mexican carnival held each fall around Mexico’s Independence Day. Parents take the lead in planning this community event and bringing it to fruition, from fundraising, cooking, setting/cleaning up, to deciding how the proceeds are spent. The event features traditional Mexican foods, games, and music, as well as hosts a presentation from the traditional Mexican dance troupe, Ballet Folklórico México en la Piel. Money raised from this event is awarded in several scholarships to Latino students at Tillamook High School, which parents help in choosing the deserving recipients.
If you are interested in participating, please contact Silvia Dickson at (503) 842-7501 ext. 5060 or at dicksons@tillamook.k12.or.us.
